Description: Enjoy a van tour of Haleakala National Park, your guide will provide a history of Haleakala, its geology and an explanation of rare plants and animals only found on Maui. Your bike ride begins at the 6,500-foot level of Haleakala where you will receive a comprehensive safety briefing and begin your 20-mile-bike ride down the slopes of Haleakala. Your journey proceeds through Haleakala Ranch and the Upcountry community of Kula stopping at Sunrise Protea and Flower Farm for a no host lunch stop. Following lunch and tour of the flower farm you will continue your bike ride through the upcountry communities of Pukalani and ending in Makawao. *
Operates: Daily Pick up between 6:00 to 7:00am - times vary
Departure Point: Pick up from most hotels and condos.
Duration: Half day
Equipment: Columbia Sportswear Windbreaker Pants and Jacket, Gloves, Helmet and State of the Art Volcano Chrome Cruiser Bikes.
Capacity: Small groups
Inclusions: Includes Round Trip Transportation and a Continental Breakfast
Menu: No host lunch stop at Sunrise Protea and Flower Farm
Exclusions: Riders need to dress warmly in layers with close-toed shoes, advised to drink water before trip and bring sunglasses and a camera. Tour is weather permitting.
*Restrictions: Must be at least 4'10" tall and at least 12 years old and weigh no more than 280 lbs. Please, no beginners, pregnant women or those affected by high altitudes.
1. Must View a 5 to 10 minute Safety Video
2. Be able to mount, dismount and completely control a bike downhill.
3. Must Read and Sign our Downhill Bike Tour Acknowledgement of Risk Form. This activity entails risks of injury, death, illness, disease or damage to property.
4. It is advised drinking water before ascending Haleakala Crater.
5. Inform your Mountain Riders Crew if you are taking any medications or drugs that may alter your ability to ride a bike downhill.
6. Must not be affected by high altitude.
7. Biking is NOT without risk and Mountain Riders reserves the right to refuse or may terminate at any time the participation of any person whom it believes is either unable or unwilling to satisfy the qualifications of participating in the Mountain Rider Bicycle Tour.
