Waipio Valley Tour - Ride The Rim on Hawaii

Description: Ride your own ATV for 12 to 13 miles through eucalyptus and ginger forests on a three-plus hour journey through former sacred royal land where access is limited. With vistas from the mile-wide black sand beach to the 1200-foot splendor of the twin Hiilawe Falls. See the back side of the Parker Ranch lands, go to the top of Waipio. Swim in the headwater of Hiilawe, the water is about 72 degrees year-round. Our changing facilities are quite primitive, so wear your swimsuits under your clothing and bring a towel. Water shoes are suggested as the smooth river rocks are slippery. The waterfall pool is usually only chest deep in most spots. As this area is a watershed, there are times when the water is high and we reserve the right to cancel swimming when the conditions are clearly hazardous.
Operates: Daily: AM departs 9:15am - returns at 12:30pm PM departs 1:00pm returns at 4:30pm
Departure Point: Meet 15 minutes prior tour at Waipio Valley Artworks, 48-5416 Kukuihaele Road in Honokaa
Duration: 3 hours.
Equipment: Capacity: Small Groups.
Inclusions: Safety gear mandatory and provided. Wet weather ponchos provided. We go rain or shine but reserve the right to cancel when the weather is, in our opinion, dangerous.
Menu: Snacks, Water and Hawaiian Fruit Juices
Exclusions: Clothing suggested: long, sturdy pants, long-sleeved shirt. CLOSED SHOES ARE MANDATORY. If you did not bring closed shoes, please stop by Wal-Mart in Kona or Hilo and purchase some inexpensive tennis shoes with sturdy treaded soles.
*Restrictions: Everyone is required to sign a Waiver before the trip. Riders must provide their credit card information at check in as a security deposit and a valid photo ID and be at least 16 years old to operate an ATV - 100lbs minimum to 350lbs maximum weight. Younger children or just passengers can ride on a Kawasaki Mule. NO Pregnant women or those with back or neck problems or who have had recent surgery are allowed to drive or ride. A comprehensive safety orientation and demonstration drive is mandatory. If, in the guides opinion, you do not appear to reliably control the machine during the orientation, we will decline your participation. We go rain or shine but reserve the right to cancel when the weather is, in our opinion, dangerous.
