Description: Join Bike Volcano on an incredible guided bicycle adventure of Kilauea Volcano's East Rift Zone and Active Lava Flow. The rift is a giant crack that runs from the summit of Kilauea Volcano through the island and into the ocean. Lava is likely to find its way anywhere along this crack or rift, because the lava follows the path of least resistance. The East Rift Zone of Kilauea Volcano is an area that has seen most of recent lava activity rift on the Island of Hawaii. Explore the eastern rift zone as we travel through lush tropical jungles along a coastal country road on your way to Kilauea Volcano's Active Lava Flow. Along the way you will see tropical fruit farms, witness spectacular ocean views and see where lava flows have cut their way through the rainforest. Once we reach the lava devastated Hawaiian village of Kalapana, you will witness the 1991 Lava Flow which created the new Kaimu Black Sand Beach. Here we will have a hot dinner before biking at sunset to witness the amazing fiery red glow of Madame Pele's magnificent creation (Volcano Dependant). The finish line is at the active lava flow where you will take a short hike to the ocean. Enjoy this wonderful, leisurely afternoon bike tour. *
Operates:Thursday or Daily based on demand.
Departure Point:Check in or pick up from the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel between 12:30 to 1:30pm depending on time of the year for sunset.
Duration:6.5 to 7 hours. Includes van transportation time to and from bike start to finish location.
Equipment:Giant Sedona DX Hybrid Comfort Bike, Helmet, Gloves, Bike Bag and Rain Jacket.
Capacity:13 passengers
Inclusions:Roundtrip Transportation from Hilo, all necessary bike equipment, professional interpretive guides, van support. Hot Dinner and beverages.
Menu: A menu will be presented to guest upon check-in.
*Restrictions: 48 Hour Cancellation Policy - No pregnant persons.No persons with heart or respiratory problems. All riders must know how to ride a bike. Tag Along bicycles that attach to parent's bicycle are available for children under 4'10" and not exceeding 85 lbs.
