The evening begins with a shell lei greeting, picture taking and a display of Polynesian crafts and demonstrations to learn about island traditions. Torches are lit and the conch shell is blown announcing the arrival of the Hawaiian Royal Court by outrigger canoe - the imu ceremony follows.

Description: Many consider this luau a "Royal Hawaiian Experience". This traditional luau is held on the beachfront of historic and picturesque Kamakahonu Bay and the grounds of Ahu Ena (Kamehameha-the-Great's former estate at Kailua Kona). The evening begins with a shell lei greeting, picture taking and a display of Polynesian crafts and demonstrations to learn about island traditions. Torches are lit and the conch shell is blown announcing the arrival of the Hawaiian Royal Court by outrigger canoe, the Imu ceremony follows. The Polynesian show will start soon after; a favorite dance of everyone is the dangerous and daring Fire Knife Dance.*
Operates: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - gates open at 5:00pm (days and times vary with season)
Departure Point: King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort Luau Desk in the front lobby.
Duration: 3 hours

Inclusions: Morning of luau guest may view placing of pig in Imu at 9:00am at luau site.
Menu: A 22 dish buffet brimming with local dishes including: Appetizers, Lomi Lomi Salmon, Poke, Fresh Fruits, a variety of Salads, Banana Bread, Steamed White Rice, Hawaiian Sweet Potato, Lau Lau, Kalua Pig, Poi, Kona Broil, Chicken Long Rice, Fish (catch of the day). Desserts include: Coconut Cake, Haupia, Coconut Pudding, Kona Coffee and Fruit Punch. Mai Tais and standard bar service is available until 7:30pm.
Exclusions: Hanohano Seating, Premium seating is an additional $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children, that must be held at reservation time but paid direct at check in. It includes Quick Check-In, Express Line in the Lei Greeting and Photo Area, Reserved Seating, Preferential Buffet Service, Personalized Craft Demonstration in the seating area, 10% Discount for the retail area and $5.00 Coupon discount towards original printed Photo.
*Restrictions: Friday is seasonal - Mai Tais and standard bar service available from 5:15 to 7:15pm only, departure times subject to change.
